PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA today announced his TechHire initiative, in which Nashville and Memphis are involved, details of which are here. A complementary fact sheet is located here.

Also recently, Nashville and Chattanooga emerged as a key participants in a National League of Cities innovation campaign, as previously reported here. The NLC work includes collaboration with Nashville-based Jumpstart Foundry.

In addition, President Obama recently announced formation and funding of the Institute for Advanced Composites Manufacturing Innovation (IACMI), with the University of Tennessee and Vanderbilt University having key roles.

In December, Nashville Technology Council was awarded a $850K grant through Gov. Bill Haslam's Labor Education Alignment Program (LEAP), for workforce development and career alignment with industry. VNC
