Update 21 April 2016: In a recent special called meeting by telephone, LaunchTN's board established a quorum for its vote affirming Doeg's role, according to CEO Charlie Brock. The Board failed to secure quora in October and January. Our 10/27/15 story follows.-Ed.

LAUNCHTN's board of directors made known last week its plan to appoint Nashville attorney Bruce Doeg as the nonprofit's vice chairman, but an official vote was deferred.

A vote on Doeg's appointment will apparently await the next full-board meeting, probably in January, because some board members were thwarted by a failed teleconference hookup in their attempts to participate remotely in last week's scheduled board meeting could not get good connections.

The last person in the vice chairman's post was Stuart McWhorter, who resigned in January, and subsequently became CEO of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center.

LaunchTN is officially the Tennessee Technology Development Corporation (TTDC), and is led by CEO Charlie Brock and Chairman Randy Boyd, who is, by design, also Gov. Bill Haslam's commissioner of economic and community development.

Doeg, 50, has been with Baker Donelson Bearman Caldwell and Berkowitz more than 20 years. His LinkedIn profile is here.

In 1999, Doeg and then Baker colleague and now Nelson Mullins attorney Jason Epstein formed the e-Business Group within Baker Donelson, but it succumbed to the DotCom bust that followed soon afterward.

He has previously served as his firm's managing shareholder in Nashville, and chaired his firm's general corporate and M&A practice. He earned his bachelor's in economics at Duke University in 1987, and his JD at the University of Virginia in 1990.
