CHATTANOOGA's Company Lab (CO.LAB) in April announced there are eight teams in its 10-week HealthTech Accelerator, which launched on April 2 in partnership with Erlanger Health System and Unum, as previously reported by VNC.
Companies in the program are developing solutions directly tied to the healthcare and benefits industries, which range from medical devices to compliant communication and back-of-office tools.

CO.LAB CEO Marcus Shaw said in a recent release that the cohort includes:
- Canopy Innovations (NYC) - an e-learning language platform helping hospitals and community clinics eliminate language barriers. Founder: Bill Tan. Tan in 2018 participated in the Nashville Entrepreneur Center's Project Healthcare, under the company name, Transcendent Endeavors.
- Healing Innovations (Nashville) - a medical device company offering its Rise&Walk patented gait-training device for walking therapy for impaired patients. CEO: Luke Benda. Related VNC coverage here.
- KelCor (Chattanooga) - a stealth-stage medical device start-up developing product solutions to help improve infection control and patient care. Co-founded by Cory Allison, a founding general partner in The Jump Fund. Early VNC Allison coverage.
- Medical Search Technologies - a SaaS company creating searchable data from unstructured text, such as radiology and patient progress notes, to help manage compliance and define care pathways for complex medical conditions. CEO: Jan Sevcik.
- MedX Services (Ooltewah,Tenn.) - a startup dedicated to improving medication management to reduce costs associated with patient non-adherence. President: Ken Lowden.
- Pretel (Chattanooga) - a developer of wearable biosensors, regional uterine physiologic signal detection software, and personalized labor progress status algorithms to reduce preterm birth and the costly poor outcomes of induction delivery. CEO: Marc Finch.
- Rhinogram (Chattanooga) - a Telehealth texting solution addressing patient-provider communication barriers and provider staffing costs, enabling reimbursable virtual consults, and leading to new-patient acquisition. Chairman/CEO: Keith Dressler.
- VendRx, Inc. (South Jordan, Utah and Norco, Calif.) - a prescription-dispensing system accessible at points of convenience, to increase patient adherence and reduce healthcare costs. CEO: Trent Jefferies.
Unum and Erlanger employees will serve as mentors to the accelerator cohort, according to a CoLab release. (###)
