Update: 16 Nov. 2015 - Brad Holliday told VNC today that GrowthX portfolio interests include Logistics, thus he'll attend EPICenter Memphis's Logistics Accelerator Demo Day, Nov. 19. The GrowthX portfolio (see below) already includes Cargo Chief, Fleet and Distribu.td. Our original story follows. - Ed.

GROWTHX, the San Francisco-based micro-VC with a locally-based partner now operating from the Nashville Entrepreneur Center (EC), has most of its partners in town this week, scouting startups, visiting potential investors and working with accelerators.

Venture Nashville has learned four of GrowthX's five partners are here to provide accelerator training for members of LaunchTN's The TENN cohort; and, the company is preparing to support ProjectMusic, which is backed principally by the EC and the Country Music Association (CMA); and, to support Ingram Content Group's publishing accelerator, 1440, which also operates from the EC.

GrowthX in June filed with the SEC to raise $50 million in GrowthX Fund I, LP. No subsequent reports are yet shown indicating closings.

As reported earlier by sister site Venture Tennessee, GrowthX recently made its first Tennessee investment -- in RootsRated, a Chattanooga-based startup that was featured in this summer's 36|86 conference by LaunchTN.

GrowthX's resident partner in Nashville is Brad Holliday, 45, a serial entrepreneur and a former marketing director for Curb Music, according to his LinkedIn. He holds an MBA from Vanderbilt University's Owen Graduate School of Management, and a bachelor's from the University of Virginia.

Three other partners are visiting Nashville: Founding Partner Andrew Goldner; Founding Partner Sean Shepherd; and, Founding Partner Will Bunker. The absent partner is Russell Lewis.

According to information online, Goldner, Bunker and Lewis are or have been associated with Silicon Valley Growth Syndicate, SVGS, an Angel Group.

Notably, the SVGS website lists David Vulcano among its advisors. Vulcano is a Nashville-based HCA executive who is also an officer of the Knoxville-based Angel Capital Group.

Beyond RootsRated, GrowthX lists at least nine other portfolio companies in which it has invested equity capital, Venture Nashville has confirmed. Given GrowthX has very recently been formed, some of these companies may have been earlier Angel investments by one or more GrowthX partners.

Those other portfolio companies are: Cleanify, Benny, Knowtify.io, Fiverun, GlamST, Distribu.td, Fleet, RootsRated, Infrared5, Cargo Chief, Chui: Intelligent Doorbell, TRAY, AlmaShopping, BioBots, GearLaunch, SOCi, Aquaai, Thesis Couture

Though no longer active in his former Amplify Business Development Consultancy since joining GrowthX in April as it was forming, Holliday has previously done tech-related work for Ingram Content Group.

Holliday lives in Franklin with his wife and their three children. VNC
