Tori Hughes

NASHVILLE-based Publisher Tori Hughes is apparently rolling her two decades of media experience into a startup that designs and executes conferences.

She is, according to her LinkedIn profile, to be a principal in Events Hatched, based in Nashville. State records online show the company's registration set to activate July 1. EventsHatched.com is the reserved web address.

Hughes has not yet responded to a query left for this story, today. Her profile indicates her affiliation with NashvillePost ends this month.

Hughes has served the past three years as publisher of NashvillePost, the online news service owned by Southcomm Communications, which also owns Nashville Scene, and other properties. Solidus, the Green Hills-based VC, is Southcomm's primary backer.

Earlier, Hughes held a management post at The City Paper, which Southcomm shuttered in August 2013. Southcomm also owns the Medical News newspaper group and a successful brace of alternatives weeklies.

Also, Hughes held management roles with Country Weekly magazine and with Journal Communications, as well as marketing and sales roles with WTVF-5 Nashville (CBS) and with CMT/Viacom. VNC
