Milt Capps is owner-publisher of VentureNashville, which he launched in 2008. wHis previous experience includes serving with UK- and New York City-based Mergermarket Group as a reporter, product editor and specialist editor, focusing on mergers, acquisitions, finance and related matters, primarily in the Americas. He also published News of Nashville Technology, 2004-2008. Earlier in his career, Capps was Vanderbilt University associate vice chancellor for news and public affairs; United Press International (UPI) senior vice president for corporate affairs; Nashville Post Co. associate publisher for industry news; and, Nashville Public Television WNPT (Nashville PBS, Channel 8) vice president, among other experiences in journalism and in public affairs.
He earned his bachelor's in Journalism, with a cognate in International Studies, at the University of South Carolina (1970). His daily newspaper experience was as a staff writer for the then-Charleston (S.C.) Evening Post. He has been a Member of the National Press Club, Washington, D.C., since 1985; and, he is a Member of the Leadership Nashville Alumni Association (Class of 1993). He is a former Nashville Chapter President, Society of Professional Journalists (SDX). He served on active duty as U.S. Air Force public-affairs officer and scenarist in 600th Photographic Squadron (MAC/AAVS/7AF), based at Tan Son Nhut Air Base in then-South Vietnam; and, as chief of information plans and programs for an affiliate of the National Security Agency, then known as USAF Security Service, among other experiences.
