GNPCA members updated 23 Dec. 2025 in our 9/29/25 story below.

YARBROUGH CAPITAL, the family office created by entrepreneur, investor and Managing Director Jon Yarbrough, is now listed among members of the expanding Greater Nashville Private Capital Association, the corporation founded two years ago with initial backing of Vanderbilt University.

In 1991, Yarbrough created Franklin-based Video Gaming Technologies (VGT), which made gambling machines deployed in casinos.

In 2014, he sold VGT to Australia-based Aristocrat for a reported $1.28BN. In 2015, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame of the Nashville Entrepreneur Center.

In 2022, he sold VGT's former home office in Franklin for a reported $19.5MM. Forbes pegs his net worth at $5.4BN this afternoon. Related. Other VNC notes.

GNPCA has been led since April 2024 by Founding Executive Director Judith Byrd.

The GNVCA board is chaired by Bruce Evans, who is also chairman of the Board of Trustees of Vanderbilt University, as well as founder and managing director of Evans Capital.

Byrd recently told VNC that, notwithstanding the fact that GNPCA is a startup, she senses members are "leaning-in" with growing enthusiasm into supporting GNPCA's advancement, energized by quality of connections, curated content and cameraderie being generated within the new ecosystem.

The organization aims to maintain within its ranks a careful mix of participants drawn from private equity, venture capital, family office and high net-worth individuals, angel, finance and advisory ranks.

It remains to be seen whether GNPCA might yet enlist -- to name but a few exemplars -- Memphis's Pittco Management, Ridgeline, SSM Partners and Innova Memphis; Nashville's Council Capital, Claritas Capital, Pharos Capital, Petra Capital, Invergarry, Harbert Management; Chattanooga's Brickyard, Dynamo, and Solas BioVentures; Knoxville's Haslam Family Office, Community Equity Partners, Market Square Ventures, and a hundred other logical prospects across Tennessee and in other states.

Equally logical but hypothetical, GNPCA could accelerate efforts to reach VC/PE and Angel groups in cities throughout our quarter of the nation that have previously made investments in Tennessee, as VNC research indicates literally dozens have done over the past 25 years.

Readers should note that the list above has been growing each month, reflecting growing outreach by Byrd, the GNPCA board, members and their aggregated networks. Keep an eye on it here. VNC
